What is EMR? They also told us thalidomide, asbestos and the blood supply were safe!
Introduction
Natural EMR ranges from the earth's own magnetic field to that generated by electric storm and the body's own essential electric activity. These natural sources of EMR are of a very low strength and are beneficial to health. It is the unnatural, man-made EMR that are of concern.
Man-made EMR, produced by an electric field and a magnetic field, occurs wherever there is a flow of electricity. Electric fields occur wherever there is a voltage - the higher the voltage, the stronger the electric field. Magnetic fields occur where there is a current - the greater the current, the stronger the magnetic field. A magnetic field only exists when the current is switched on.
Electromagnetic radiation (EMR) is often called an electromagnetic field (EMF) when it falls within the lower frequencies. Both EMR and EMF are commonly used to mean the same thing.
Common Sources of EMR
As electricity moves through wires and machines it produces EMR. Once electricity is delivered to the user it continues to produce EMR throughout the wiring systems of offices, homes, schools, factories and other structures. The appliances and electrical equipment connected to these wiring systems produce their own EMR as well.
In the workplace the generators of EMR include computers, cell phones, fax machines, copy machines, fluorescent lights, printers, scanners, telephone (PBX) switching systems, electrical instruments and tools, motors and other electrical devices.
In homes, the immediate sources of EMR (besides the electrical wiring) are computers, TVs, microwaves, security systems, electric blankets, electric bedside clocks, hairdryers, electric shavers, TVs, stereo systems, air conditioners, fluorescent lights, telephone answering machines, cell and portable phones, refrigerators, portable heaters, vacuum cleaners and other electrical devices.
EMR is not only produced by electricity moving through wires or machines, but it is the nature of all television and satellite transmissions, as well as radio and microwave communication systems, including cellphones. Automobiles, trucks, airplanes, electrical and magnetic trains and subway systems are also significant sources of EMR.
More than one source of EMR in proximity to other sources will produce overlapping fields in the same area. Any metropolitan home or office environment in the world will be saturated by a variety of interpenetrating EMR from a variety of sources.
Virtually all research on the serious health effects of man-made EMR has come to the conclusion that the adverse health responses from EMR are from long-term, cumulative exposure.
Exquisitely sensitive to subtle electromagnetic harmonies, our human brains and bodies depend on tiny electrical impulses to conduct complex life-processes. Man-made EMR penetrates almost anything, including our bodies. Acting as antennas, our bodies just as easily tune into spurious signals from radio and microwave transmissions.
Scientific Facts
At least two-dozen studies on humans indicated a link between EMR and life-threatening health problems.
In March 1990 the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommended that EMR be classified as a Class B carcinogen, joining the ranks of formaldehyde, DDT, dioxins and PCBs.
Electric blankets are linked with miscarriages and childhood leukaemia
A two-hour exposure to EMR can lead to permanent DNA breaks in the brain.
EMR disrupts your natural energy levels, causing stress responses. This impairs the body's
natural ability to heal and contributes to energy depletion and fatigue.
EMR causes significant increases in blood pressure.
EMR damages DNA and enhance cell death rates.
EMR is a universal genotoxic carcinogen that enhances the rates of cancer, cardiac, reproductive and neurological disease and mortality in humans.
The only safe exposure level to EMR is zero, a position confirmed by epidemiological studies.
